Weaning is one of the most challenging periods in a piglet’s life. In a matter of days, they face a complete change in diet, a new environment, and separation from their mother — all at once. The resulting stress doesn’t just affect behaviour; it has a direct and measurable impact on gut health, immune function, and growth performance.

What Happens in the Gut at Weaning?
A large part of the piglet’s immune system resides in the gut, making intestinal health central to overall health and performance. During weaning, the combination of dietary change and stress creates real vulnerabilities:
- Goblet cells — which produce the gut’s protective mucus layer — are depleted
- Tight junctions between intestinal cells become damaged, weakening the gut barrier
- Inflamed enterocytes reduce nutrient absorption efficiency
- Pathogenic bacteria exploit these openings, increasing the risk of diarrhoea
The result is a gut that is less protected, less efficient, and more susceptible to infection — precisely at the moment when the piglet needs maximum nutritional support.
How Intra Revifit Works
Intra Revifit is a complementary dietetic feed delivered via the drinking water. Its strength lies in a synergistic combination of two key ingredients:
- Chelated zinc — with improved bioavailability thanks to Intracare’s 25 years of chelated mineral expertise
- Monoglycerides — supporting gut integrity and providing antimicrobial activity
Together, these ingredients reinforce tight junctions, activate goblet cells, and strengthen the immune response — resulting in a more robust mucus layer, better barrier function, and improved nutrient absorption throughout the weaning period.
There’s a practical advantage too. Even when piglets go off feed during the stress of weaning — as they commonly do — they continue to drink. Delivering Intra Revifit through the drinking water ensures consistent intake precisely when it matters most.
What the Trials Show
Several European trials have demonstrated the real-world impact of Intra Revifit. In a Dutch trial, 443 weaker piglets from gilt litters received Intra Revifit and Intra Aqua Acid Mineral via the drinking water for the first 14 days after weaning, compared to 213 stronger piglets from second and third litters who received no supplement.
Despite starting from a disadvantage, the Intra Revifit group achieved 30.3% higher daily growth — equivalent to +47 grams per piglet per day. Within just two weeks, the weaker piglets had nearly closed the gap on the stronger control group.
Protocol at a Glance
Intra Revifit works best when used as follows:
- Dosage: 1,500 ppm Intra Revifit in the drinking water
- Combined with: 1,000 ppm Intra Aqua Acid Mineral (to maintain pH 3.6–4.0)
- Duration: First 14 days post-weaning
- Before and after: Clean the water system with Intra Hydrocare for best results
